Precision work within a coordinated plan

Depending on the project, a millwright may support equipment receiving and handling, assembly, installation, alignment or planned mechanical intervention. The work follows approved drawings, tolerances, procedures and methods in coordination with supervision and other site disciplines.

Existing facilities add practical constraints: available space, interfaces with steel and piping, lifting access and operating requirements. Communicating an observed condition and following the planned sequence are important parts of the role.

Where crews may work

Projects may take place in steel mills, aluminum smelters, refineries, petrochemical facilities, pulp and paper mills, cement plants or hydroelectric facilities. Work may be completed during a major turnaround or within a controlled area of an operating plant.

Location, shifts, travel and duration vary. The official posting should always provide those details.

Qualifications for each opening

“Millwright” may overlap with the industrial-mechanic classification. If CNC does not recruit the roles through distinct pathways, merge this page with Industrial Mechanic to avoid two competing job pages.
