Industrial Structural Steel Services

CNC Mechanical provides structural steel services for industrial facilities in Quebec and Ontario, with an emphasis on erection, reinforcement, modification and repair work in existing operating plants. The team plans around access, production constraints, lifting requirements and the mechanical systems that connect to the steel.

This service is focused on field execution. Structural design, engineering acceptance and fabrication are not presented as CNC self-performed capabilities. Each project must identify the engineer of record, approved drawings, supplied components and inspection requirements before work begins.

Structural work in operating facilities

Industrial steel work is rarely isolated from plant operations. A new opening, reinforcement, platform or equipment support may affect access, piping, conveyors, guarding and lifting paths. CNC reviews those interfaces early and builds the field sequence around the approved work package.

Documented capabilities include:

  • erection and installation of approved structural components;
  • reinforcement, modification and repair of existing industrial structures;
  • additions within existing facilities;
  • welding performed to the requirements defined for the project; and
  • installation of miscellaneous metals such as stairs, walkways and guardrails.

CNC also installs industrial mezzanines when the design, loading criteria and components are supplied through the project’s approved engineering and procurement process.

Coordination across mechanical scopes

Steel often supports or surrounds mechanical systems. CNC can review structural interfaces alongside millwright services, industrial piping and boilermaking. This helps establish responsibilities for equipment loads, supports, access, temporary conditions and final handback.

For outage-driven projects, the work can also be incorporated into a coordinated plant shutdown. Lift plans, isolation boundaries, trade sequencing and inspection hold points should be identified in the RFQ rather than assumed after mobilization.

Documented project experience

CNC’s legacy portfolio describes steel reinforcement work on the Jacques Cartier Bridge and structural assignments at industrial sites including Ivaco Rolling Mills and Greenfield Ethanol. These examples show experience with substantial steel scopes and complex industrial environments. Public use of client names, images, project values or detailed results remains subject to final client and editorial approval.

What to include in a structural steel RFQ

Send issued drawings, specifications, member lists, connection details, component weights, coating requirements and the engineer’s inspection plan. Also identify work at height, access limits, existing-condition surveys, production restrictions, lifting constraints and the party responsible for fabrication and delivery.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

Does CNC fabricate structural steel?

This page does not represent structural fabrication as a CNC capability. CNC’s documented scope is field erection, installation, reinforcement, modification and repair using approved project documents and components.

Can CNC work inside an operating plant?

Yes. CNC plans industrial field work around access, production, lifting, isolation and adjacent-trade constraints defined for the site.

What miscellaneous metals can CNC install?

Documented work includes stairs, walkways, mezzanines and guardrails. The exact design, materials, finishes and inspection criteria must be stated in the project package.

Can structural work be combined with mechanical services?

Yes. CNC can review interfaces with millwright, piping, boilermaking and shutdown scopes when those services form part of the project.
