Industrial mechanical services for pulp and paper mills

Pulp and paper work can connect boilermaking equipment, piping networks, supports and mechanical installations within one scope. CNC Mechanical organizes the required disciplines around the client’s documents, existing conditions and available work window.

The service mix includes boilermaking, industrial piping, millwright services, structural steel and industrial maintenance. The Domtar project record provides published evidence across this mix, including boiler, FRP piping, support, tank and lime-kiln scopes.

Complementary work inside an existing mill

CNC’s documented boilermaking capabilities include installation, maintenance and major-repair scopes involving tanks, pressure vessels, boilers and burners, furnaces, heat exchangers, grinders, rotary kilns, reactors, dust-collection systems, and ID or FD fans. The applicable task depends on the equipment and the mill’s approved work documents.

Piping services cover estimating, material procurement and installation for service or process piping, instrumentation or hydraulic tubing, and supports. Hydrostatic or pneumatic testing can be included when specified. CNC coordinates fabrication, inspection, heat treatment, painting and insulation through subcontractors.

Structural crews can modify, repair, reinforce or add steel within an existing operating plant. Catwalks, mezzanines, stairs and guardrails can support access when included in the scope. The service does not imply structural fabrication.

Published work at Domtar

The historical Domtar record lists a published value of $2.8 million and several scopes: biomass-boiler modernization; supply and installation of FRP piping; addition and replacement of supports; mechanical and piping installation for the NCC plant; rehabilitation of the overflow-tank ground and floor; and mechanical installation work for a new lime-kiln section.

The record demonstrates work across several systems but does not provide dates, schedule performance or outcomes. Those details should not be added without an approved source.

Planned work or a shutdown package

A scope can be sequenced around operations or concentrated within a plant shutdown. CNC documents shutdowns requiring 50 to 500 workers. The crew size and applicable trades are determined for each project. Access, isolations, lifting and area handback are defined with the site before execution.

Prepare the mill scope

Send the drawings, equipment and line lists, identified materials, affected supports, access constraints and target window. CNC Mechanical can route the request to the right teams and identify missing estimating data.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

Which services does CNC Mechanical provide for pulp and paper mills?

CNC provides documented boilermaking, industrial-piping, millwright, structural-steel and maintenance services. The Domtar record includes biomass-boiler, FRP-piping, support, tank and lime-kiln work.

Can CNC Mechanical coordinate piping and support work?

Yes. The Domtar record identifies both FRP-piping supply and installation and the addition and replacement of supports. Materials, limits, interfaces and responsibilities are confirmed for each new project.

Can CNC Mechanical work during a mill shutdown?

CNC documents general shutdown experience requiring 50 to 500 workers. A pulp and paper mobilization depends on the scope, work window, access, isolations and the mill’s site requirements.

What should accompany a pulp and paper RFQ?

Include drawings and specifications, equipment and line lists, materials, shutdown window, access and lifting constraints, and known testing or inspection requirements. Site photographs and technical contacts are also useful.
