A test package built before pressurization
The test plan should be complete before field execution begins. CNC reviews the assigned work against the approved documents and site conditions, including:
- marked test limits and the components included or excluded;
- required test pressure, medium, temperature range and hold period;
- fill, vent, drain and disposal arrangements;
- calibrated instruments and recording requirements;
- temporary blinds, supports and connection details;
- inspection hold points and acceptance signatures; and
- isolation, exclusion zones and emergency controls.
Water quality, environmental restrictions and protection of sensitive equipment also need to be defined. The project team must identify systems that cannot be exposed to the chosen medium or pressure and specify how they will be isolated.

Coordination with piping installation
Testing is most effective when planned alongside process piping installation. Weld records, examination status, material traceability, supports and line completeness should be resolved before the test boundary is released.
CNC can also review the related pipe supports and tubing or a partner-coordinated fabrication and installation package. Where testing depends on an outage or multiple tie-ins, it may form part of a larger plant shutdown.
CNC’s legacy materials also identify pneumatic testing as a capability. Because stored-energy hazards differ materially from hydrostatic testing, a pneumatic test requires its own approved method, risk controls and authorization; it is never treated as an automatic substitute.
Documentation for handback
Required records may include the approved test package, instrument calibration information, pressure and time records, inspection sign-off, deficiency resolution and final turnover index. The exact deliverables should be listed in the RFQ and quality plan.
