Alignment tied to the equipment scope
The RFQ should identify the driver and driven equipment, coupling type, manufacturer data, target tolerance and operating condition. It should also state whether CNC is responsible only for measurement and adjustment or for related mechanical work such as repositioning, shimming or correcting an installation issue.
CNC's broader millwright experience includes turbines, compressors, gears, crushers, conveyors and bucket elevators. Laser shaft alignment may support work on some of that equipment, but this page does not claim that the same procedure or tolerance applies to every machine. The responsible technical authority must supply or approve the project criteria.
Mechanical conditions that affect the result
Alignment can be influenced by base and support condition, piping strain, coupling state, equipment movement and the sequence in which fasteners are secured. If process piping or structural-steel supports affect the equipment position, those interfaces should be visible in the work package.
Where CNC is asked to perform related rotating-equipment work, the alignment step can be coordinated with the larger mechanical sequence. Guarding, electrical isolation, rotation authority and return-to-service testing remain assigned in advance.

Record the agreed deliverable
Before execution, the owner and CNC should agree on the alignment targets, measurement condition and required record. If the deliverable includes before-and-after readings, equipment identification, adjustment notes or owner witness, include that requirement in the RFQ.
Laser alignment is not a substitute for machine design, vibration analysis, balancing or a broader reliability diagnosis. If the owner is investigating a recurring condition, provide the available maintenance history and identify which specialist is responsible for root-cause analysis.
