Industrial Furnace and Rotary Kiln Mechanical Work

CNC Mechanical's documented boilermaking scope includes industrial furnaces and rotary kilns. For owners planning industrial kiln maintenance, an installation or a major repair, CNC can review the mechanical work around the equipment and coordinate it with the plant's outage, lifting, piping and structural requirements.

Kiln and furnace projects are equipment-specific. Shell sections, internals, drive components, supports, burners, refractory systems and process controls do not automatically fall under one contractor's scope. CNC defines the work it is being asked to perform and identifies the interfaces that belong to the owner, an engineer, an OEM or another qualified specialist.

A mechanical scope tied to the outage plan

The first step is to understand the equipment and the reason for the intervention. Provide the equipment tag, manufacturer information, available drawings, known condition and the work requested. If the plant has already completed an inspection, include the findings and marked-up repair limits.

CNC can then assess the boilermaking and mechanical activities within its documented capability. Heavy components may require a lifting plan and carefully sequenced handling. Connected process piping, surrounding structural steel or drive-related millwright work should be identified in the same package when they affect access or schedule.

Safety, access and handback

Industrial kiln work may involve confined or restricted access, elevated work, heavy handling, hot-work controls and tight outage windows. The owner and contractor need a shared understanding of isolation, permits, access systems, inspection points and the condition required for handback.

CNC's health-and-safety approach is based on prevention, continuing training and a project-specific prevention program. The legacy program identifies worker orientation, job safety analysis, work planning and personal protective equipment as items tailored to each site and scope.
